Hitchcocks Business Park, strategically located near Junction 27 of the M5 in Mid Devon, is experiencing significant growth, thereby strengthening its position as a key economic player in the region. The park now hosts nearly 700 employees across various sectors including warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, and business services.

This 60-acre facility caters to 45 companies, ranging from international giants like GXO Logistics and Carlsberg to national brands such as DFS and Gregory Distribution, as well as regional entities including United Roofing and Trucksmith. According to Richard Persey, owner and chief executive of the business park, the development strategy over the past decade has been focused on creating a versatile environment that attracts diverse businesses. "We’re proud to contribute to the local economy in this way and always aim to grow in a sustainable manner," Persey commented.

The latest expansion, marking the third phase of development, has notably increased capacity and facilities for several tenants. Noteworthy upgrades include a new industrial unit for PenCarrie, the UK’s premier wholesale clothing distributor, and additional storage yards for S&G Transport and Nicholls Logistics. This phase has not only safeguarded 34 existing jobs but also created 25 new positions, indicating a positive trend in employment opportunities within the park.

Persey highlighted the park’s commitment to sustainability, mentioning investments in energy-saving technologies such as solar PV installations and the design of new buildings to include such features. "Our goal is to develop an environmentally sustainable site that meets the needs of our current generation without compromising future ones, ensuring a balance between economic growth, environmental stewardship, and social wellbeing," he explained.

The success of Hitchcocks Business Park is a testament to the dynamic and adaptive nature of Mid Devon’s business landscape, reflecting broader trends of growth and sustainability in regional business development.
